Microalgae can be considered an alternative food ingredient thanks to their nutritional composition and bioactive molecules. are a rich source of sulfated non-sulfated polysaccharides, certain types polysaccharides vary depending on taxonomic groups. It is thought that valuable compounds possessed by algae biomass increase the vitality probiotic bacteria stimulating growth being good for lactic acid production. Probiotics defined as living, microbial dietary supplements beneficially affect human organism with effects intestinal tract when they consumed adequately. Prebiotics indigestible or poorly digested ingredients stimulate activity bacteria. Synbiotic term expresses union probiotics prebiotics exert health benefits humans. Spirulina Chlorella sources protein oligosaccharides have been suggested potential prebiotic candidates.
